This site is all about providing you with the latest information and expert reviews on the most portable, thinnest laptops and we are doing exactly that. Take the Aspire 2930 laptop from Acer for example. This is one of Acers more recent laptops and despite producing hundreds of different types of laptop it seems that Acer stills managed to put a lot of effort into every single one. The Aspire 2930 is a prime example of this effort.

The Aspire 2930 is quite a compact laptop with quite a modern style to it making it not only a very portable laptop but it also looks good too. The outer lid and a good part of the inside is rather glossy giving it a sleek and modern look right through. Top that off with a low, sensitive keyboard and here you have quite a nice laptop.

As for its inner working it is based on the new Centrino 2 platform which has been a huge hit for Intel. Over the past few years there has been quite a few updates to the Centrino offering however it is only very recently that this new version was introduced, version 2. In order for a laptop to qualify as being Centrino 2 it requires specific kinds of chipset and processors. The Acer Inspire 2930 for example makes use of a Core 2 Duo processor running between 2.53GHz and 2.64GHz. To be a bit more specific as to the inner working of this laptop it has a 1,066MHz FSB (front side bus) along with a 544MHz integrated Intel graphics chip.

On a less technical point the average battery life during normal use is around about the two hours mark which for a laptop at this price and specification isn’t too bad. It also features a 12.1 inch widescreen CrystalBrite display pumping out a maximum 1280×800 pixel resolution.

As for connectivity this laptop also features built in WiFi, an ExpressCard slot, three USB ports and a standard D-Sub VGA connector for connecting it to another display.

At around about £450 this is a stylish, modern, portable and thin laptop well worth considering.

The Acer Aspire 2930 is a brilliant laptop. Its been very reliable for me and as for performance it does everything I need it to – office work, web browsing, dvd/music and even some of the latest games. From my view the Acer Aspire 2930 is just an awesome laptop… and it’s definitely thin and lightweight compared to a lot of them out there.

    Highly recommended!
